A Message From One For One
Hope Continues To Drive Our Work And Mission Now More Than Ever.
Dear One For One Community,
If you are reading this email, you are someone who has been supportive of our cause and for that we are grateful. We, like you, have been trying to make sense and navigate the challenges and suffering we've experienced in the recent days and months and frankly, hundreds of years. There is so much pain, righteous anger, and sorrow permeating our lives right now. This is a moment that is asking much of all of us. This moment is asking us to truly listen to the voices of people who are systemically oppressed. This moment is asking us to truly hear what those voices are saying.
This moment is asking us to act.
At One For One, we have always been about meeting black and brown youth where they are at, listening and acting in a way that puts what we intrinsically believe at the forefront—the only thing that is missing is the opportunity. We have truly created an extended family. During this time, I have had so many of the youth in the program reach out to me to see if I am OK. So many of the youth asking to start work early. I am committed to telling the stories of this generation—stories of resilience, love in action and true empathy for all.
Because of your support, you are helping to build a better Chicago and a world where opportunities are not only attainable, but also sustainable for young adults of color. Please help us by spreading the word about One For One to those who might not know about our work and mission. Forward this email, invite friends and family to join our Facebook and Instagram pages (links at bottom of email). And if you are able to give at this time, please know that your support can continue to change the lives of Chicago youth and help them find a positive path forward.
In peace, love and hope,
Meghan Olson,
Founder and Executive Director
Summer Work Program Is On!
We are so happy to share with you that our greenhouse employment program will continue as planned this summer! This will allow our teens to have paid internships in a positive and safe environment during the summer months. Through both in-person and virtual sessions, we will also continue to provide career readiness and exposure workshops for our teens in a safe way during COVID-19. We look forward to sharing more updates with you once the program kicks off later this month.
