Keeping Grounded Greenhouse Summer Internship Program Launches June 28th!
Hello! We hope this note finds you healthy and well. As a valued supporter of One For One, we wanted to share some updates as we gear up for another exciting summer of programming.
This summer, we are thrilled to be expanding our Keeping Grounded Greenhouse Program paid internship opportunities to have dual urban farm work programs at Herban Produce and The Roof Crop on the West Side of Chicago.
The internships are so important because not only do they allow One For One teens to earn money in a safe and nurturing environment during dangerous summer months, they prepare them for the workforce.
By learning a good work ethic, time management, team-building, core problem-solving skills, and developing professional attitudes, these critical hands-on skills are transferable to real world jobs and often lead to expanded, full-time employment opportunities and success!
The Keeping Grounded Greenhouse Program kicks off the week of June 28th and runs through August 16th. The internships will focus on city rooftop farming, greenhouse, hydroponics, horticulture work and harvesting.
In addition, we will continue to have workshop sessions, field trips and supplemental learning days each week at Wildman BT Studio —for those of you who attended our virtual fundraiser last December, you may remember what an incredible space it is!
As many of you know, we primarily rely on the funds of private and individual donors to fund our employment and programming. We ask that you continue to be a part of making that happen by donating what you can. Your dollars truly make a difference in the lives of Chicago youth living in communities with high rates of violent crime and joblessness. Let's have a SUPER POSITIVE SUMMER and keep our teens safe!
